In Ocean City, New Jersey, the owners of a restaurant say the labor shortage is so dire at the Jersey Shore resort town they had to lease a robot to help run food orders to tables.
The owners of Island Grill Seafood & Steak House lease the robot from Richtech Robotics.
It runs $2,000 a month and takes the place of four human food runners and bus boys.
The robot's name is Peanut and it never needs a bathroom break or a cut of the tips.
Barely more than a year after the coronavirus caused the steepest economic fall and job losses on record, the speed of the rebound has been so unexpectedly swift that many companies can't fill jobs or acquire enough supplies to meet a pent-up burst of customer demand.
