Contribute to the adoption of Sun technologies by delivering technical support to Sun partners (inc. ISV, SI, OEM) that develops & ports applications on the Sun platform.
Job Description
Primary Function
provide phone/web/email technical support to Sun partners as they adopt Sun technologies
research software problems and perform problem isolation & resolution, using system software and diagnostics tools
continuous learning of technologies and products in the areas of Solaris & JES middleware
manage issues/escalations using Call Management tools, communicate status of problems, ensure support services level meets customer satisfaction
communicate with Sun product teams to help resolve partner issues, act as a liaison for higher levels of technical support and manage technical escalation
capture experience in English written language, contribute to Sun's knowledge databases
Key Requirements
BS degree in computer or engineering field
good professional written English
a high level of troubleshooting skills and problem resolution within complex environments
autonomous, self-motivating, taking initiatives, requiring low-touch management (direct manager will be remote)
flexibility to work in a global environment, multitask projects and adjust to changing priorities
2+ years of customer-facing technical experience or software programming experience
knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Solaris OS, Unix programming, Java language, J2EE programming, software debugging.
Preferred Skills
knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Solaris admin, Solaris tuning, C/C++ compilers, Oracle admin, Oracle tuning, Java programming, J2EE architecture, Windows-to-Unix migration, Linux-to-Solaris migration, software benchmarking and tuning.
good professional oral English, ability to travel to Western Europe & North America
confortable with less technical tasks such as project qualification with business counterparts, technical presentation in public, social engineering, reporting & documenting projects
2+ years of experience working as a software developer on the Solaris or J2EE platform
